Duplicate Finder 2011
Old versionsSee all
Duplicate Finder searches for duplicate files on your system. Getting rid of them can sometimes help you reclaim a lot of wasted space from your drives. On the developer’s site it is claimed that this software is a lot faster than other similar programs. They are not lying. This program is ultra-fast. It took less than 30 seconds to scan 10 GB of data with the default comparing method. Other methods may be even faster but also less effective.
The interface is modern and self-explanatory. Neatly organized, there are three main panels: one for searching, one that shows you a list of duplicates and one that displays a preview for each selected file.
The software does not have any kind of “Options” menu or dialog but the way it’s made, it doesn’t need one.
By default, system files and folders are not included in the search which is usually a good idea because deleting those files, even if they’re duplicates, may result in “File not found” errors and inconsistencies. Also, the system often backs up important files and folders so deleting them would be a problem.
The trial version of the program imposes a file number limit and/or size that can be deleted. The limits are pretty low, making the trial almost useless so you will have to buy the application if you want to use it with its full capabilities.
- Ultra-fast searching
- Easy to use
- Interface is organized neatly
- Plenty of features for such a small application
- Size and number of duplicate files that can be deleted are way too low
